Leg 10: Late start for me and last one out of the gate. This leg sounded cool, though it was very much a long downhill followed by a long uphill, something I did not enjoy much last year. But it was one of the longer legs and I had a lot of people to pass. The final uphill seemed way too long (funny how 500ft gain on day 3 feels like 1000ft gain on day 2), and I was starting to think I had a-whole-nother climb ahead (which I was prepared to do) until I found our exchange hidden in a valley. 5.1 miles: 34 min.

Leg 17: 2nd to last leg, flat, sandy gravel. I was interested in a fast pace, but with no one to chase... I started to lose motivation. Mostly stuck around 6:30 pace, not going fast, but not feeling comfortable either. 4.1 miles: 27 min.

Leg 18: Ran the last half mile slowly as the rest of the team parked the cars and ran back to join me. Feeling pretty exhausted by now.

Compared to last year, my legs were a bit flatter and hotter this year, I think that lead to some heat exhaustion that I could have prevented more. I also wasn't trying to get extra miles all the time like last year, though I only ended up with 4 fewer miles for the 3 days. Not sure how to compare fitness, or how much it helped to train in Wyoming for a week, but this concludes the strength part of my summer as I start dreading doing speedier workouts (and by speed, I mean like 10k pace).
