I decided a workout was a necessity today, not only has it been a while but also hoping it kickstarts my legs again. Our first choice was to the track but the high school had a small practice. We probably could have asked to share without an issue, but this is where my laziness manifests: not in my willingness to run 11 miles, but when I don't want to deal with other people's space and decisions.

I had a backup plan anyway: Tempo! Ok, not very original. This time would be a longer tempo though. Last week we did 2 miles at faster than 5:40. This time, 6 miles, and I wanted to play it safe by starting slower.

The first mile was the usual too fast, too slow, before settling in for a 5:53. Next 2 miles were through the outskirts of downtown. So some slowing for street crossings but no stops. Still, 2 5:50's.

The final 3 miles were much more consistently paced and both of us more confident: 2 5:44's and a 5:41ish (I stopped a minute short of 6 miles to hit a bathroom).

A mile and a half, then 3 x ~45sec hill fast-and-relaxed. Great day all-around.
