A day off was well felt for this unplanned long run. Emma had planned a 90min run near RMNT and invited me, seemed worth an hour drive (other than the stress of not finding a gas station nearby).
We started near Allenspark and got about 99% of our ascent done in the first 30min, ~1000ft worth. Starting uphill right away was more of a shock to my system than I'd like, but we settled in after 5-10min and I felt comfortable the rest of the way (I also didn't realize that we started near 9000ft, higher than Vedauvoo and most of Headwaters).
After our turnaround, we had a nice descent that gradually got busier and flatter as we made our way into Wild Basin (where I've hiked before). The last couple miles were flat and Rebel found us for our final mile. 4 strides with an annoyed achilles.
Happy to get 90min, it was a fun run with Emma. Thanks to the drop-off and pick-up from Rebel, we didn't have to do an out and back and even had a lot more descent than ascent: weird to do but lovely.
