I made it to Thorsday, only had to get up at 4:30 too! There were about 10 of us, always nice to have a big group and to hang out in the back. Opening couple miles were easy on the somewhat hilly roads, I kept to the shoulder mostly.
Once we got to the gravel trail, things started picking up as people would sprint ahead to use bathrooms - I might have done this if I could have gotten to 1 first, but ended up being fine. But mostly we picked up the pace because Phil Young took the lead and 2 stepped everyone for the rest of the run.
We rolled under 7min pace until mile 10 when we reached "Thor's Rock" and let most everyone catch up before we had to cross the waterway. So we got soaked up to our shorts before doing 2 miles of hilly trails. Apparently, Phil, Lance, and Nate all took off after the water as I was just hanging behind Thompson, but that was probably for the best as we just cruised on in.
It was a good time, always nice to have a group of runners running your pace. The slightly cooler temps probably helped as well to get me feeling good. Will have to try this again.
