Back at Whiterock for the first time since Max and I went years ago when I was getting into mountain biking. Naomi and I couldn't get a camping spot unfortunately but we eventually found a spot 15miles away. We hiked 5miles this morning and another couple this afternoon. Our plan for the bike ride was to do the doubletrack 10mile path and none of the singletrack mountain biking. I guess I thought this would be a casual crushed limestone path around the park. Boy was I wrong.

Immediately we had to go up a big steep hill that I needed to walk up as I was in far too high of gear (and it was steep). That seemed well worth it though as we rode through a bit of pasture high up with great views. It soon became apparent that this path was more of a tractor trail. Which meant a bumpy ride.

More uphills and the several scary downhills that were steep and rutty and even sandy at times. I've never had my fingers in duress from squeezing my brakes so hard! I don't know what I'm more impressed with, that Naomi never fell or that her hybrid bike survived it all.

About halfway through and we got about a 1/2 mile of that flat crushed limestone trail. But that would have taken us into town so back to some rolling cow pastures for us. It's pretty odd that I probably could have ran this faster than we biked and it's not like it was all easy, I pushed quite hard on a few of the uphills.
