Another speed workout, I almost did hill repeats (something I haven't done in months), but couldn't think of a hill that wouldn't have me running into the wind for part of the uphill.
I ran into the wind for 4 miles on gravel, which was nice (the gravel was nice, not the wind). Then proceeded with the workout on the bike path; the bike path is basically flat with minor fluctuations. The workout was a continuation of others I've done: 50sec on, 50sec off, the 'on' pace varying between 3k and mile most likely.
The first few were alright but I was pessimistic and set a goal of 10. By # 7 I started feeling good and decided 12 would be a good goal. By 12 I was feeling great and the only concern was deciding if I should stop at a bathroom or not. I ended up doing 16, so over 13min of fast paces. I would have continued the tradition of doing 18 but I was almost home and my calves were trying to remind me I raced in spikes 4 days ago.
