Notes

The goal here was to mimic a workout I'd do in Cedar Falls where I would alternate 800's with a hill ascent, however I could not find an idea place to do this (at least while staying on trails, which tend to be either flat, or continuously hilly). I settled on doing the back half of Rollercoaster with a slight net downhill for the 800's, and then there was a grassy hill nearby.

The first repeat took 2:50, which was probably pretty close to an 800, but I cut out the initial uphill and shortened the remaining repeats. The next repeats all felt good and I dropped times (2:29, 2:27, 2:25). The hill repeats were all about 20sec each, though I was pretty much sprinting by the end. The 5th and final repeat started off feeling like crap, I just didn't feel as good as the other ones. Nevertheless, each split was showing I was going faster than before and ended up with a 2:21, I'll take it I guess.

This ended up being a decent workout, though I would have preferred if the 800's were on a flat and straighter trail so I could have focused more on being fast and relaxed. Instead the undulations and turns left me needing to be focused on keeping my speed up after each uphill or sharp turn.
