a hot day for the southern section of the baker trail...started off with a good mix of trail and dirt road...the first 14 miles were up and down. as the day went on, there was more running on road and less trail. the last 20 miles were all road in the open sun, just like last year's middle section. i was doing well up to that point....was hoping for more trail with more shade, but it never happened. i struggled the last 10-15 miles, walking a lot of it....Linda Reilly ran her first 50 miler in 13:20 and her friend Katie Bordner came in first female, 13:09. their friends Paul Clements and Brian Donovan also came in around the same times. Don Halke was not able to make the cut at mile 38...too hot....overall, disappointed with results. the open road the last part of these races and it being so warm makes it very tough for me.
