Notes

Today in IS class, everyone was giving presentations and apparently, I was NOT paying attention because all I could think about was how I could intensify my training and get better. So then, I came up with a workout and decided to do it right after my class. It went a little something like this…

10 min warmup on bike

4x(5 minutes hard on bike, 400 @Vo2 on track, 3 and a half(ish) minutes of core)

10 min cooldown

Not gonna lie...it was honestly pretty tough! I was breathing pretty hard and Chapman said he was watching from his office and saw me struggling to mount the bike the last time haha. The core times are all slightly different because I just did core until I reached the ten minute mark for each set (i.e, 5 minutes + 1:19-1:23ish + whatever the heck I had left =10 minutes for each set). I also switched up the core every time, except I always did burpees right at the end of each set to really make it hurt, #hadregretsaboutthattowardstheend. I was planning on hitting 90's for the 400's, but then after the first one, I was like "I guess I'll just do Vo2 every time", and I ended up getting faster on each one!!!

Anyway, I know I'm not supposed to be working out yet but it only ended up being a mile of running anyway and I really wanted to try something new! I love the feeling of aerobically struggling, challenging yourself, and pushing yourself to extreme limits- I know not why that is, but I can only assume it's because I've had to start over with running many times and so that feeling is no stranger to me. It was an absolute grind of a cardio workout and I loved and hated every minute of it! I really channeled my inner anger in each aspect of the workout. I think the hardest part was the biking- it's different from other running workouts because usually after a hard 400, you get to jiggly jog but instead I was going from one hard thing to another hard thing to another hard thing. Overall, I had a lot of fun with this and I think it could be a beneficial workout to get super strong and fit. I think it kind of hits all the dimensions- fast 400's for speed and turnover, pretty lengthy duration (almost like 10k length if you think about it) for endurance, plus the hard biking and core to build strength and muscle. Hoping to incorporate more stuff like this into my routine and think of more creative ways to get better!
