12-18 x 70 sec up @ 5k, 50 sec down.

Welp, I said eff it and I worked out again today! I tend to struggle with these type of workouts, mostly because I suckkkk at pacing and I also don't know what a 5k effort for me feels like right now. I also find it a little annoying to go between slowing down and speeding up all the time- as does my achilles lol. It is hard for me to get going again after slowing down, and by the time I get moving, the 70 seconds is already over, which is why I think I like tempos better. However, it is good for me to improve on workouts like these and try to lock down on a pace. This is one of those workouts where you need to be aware of the pace on your watch, but not obsess over it, and just find a rhythm. So after obsessing over the pace on my watch for the first few reps, I just forgot about it and just tried to go off effort instead. Paces ended up being all over the place (either too fast or too slow), but with the few hilly parts and all the people on the trail, I'm okay with it. This is a workout where I would've been much more successful had I had a pack. It felt harder than most of the workouts I've done this winter, but not every workout will feel like a cakewalk, especially after pushing it yesterday too. Overall, I feel good about it and I think it reminded me to work on my pacing a little bit. I remember I did this workout last year and it absolutely annihilated me; I felt pretty strong and in control this time around, so that is good progress at least! Today made me better and I am taking this weekend extra easy to get ready to grind again the next week!

Update: Just looked at my log from last year. I was in fact, wrecked after this. I struggled through 15 reps last year, and this year I made it to the full 18! Little victories, yippee!
