Really good race, 2nd on Runablaze behind Brogan and 23rd place overall.

Will and I probably started a little too far back at the beginning, took about 4 seconds for us to get across the line, as the first couple minutes of the race were a bit frustrating with having to work to get around people, but oh well. Once I got into some open road I got into a rhythm I was able to settle in. I was unsure how fast I was running since the GPS wasn't all that accurate with the tall buildings, but I felt like I was running pretty fast but not over my head early.

I missed the 1 mile mark, but somewhere around there Tyson said my name and I looked back to see him and Jasko right on me. I knew if I wanted to have the kind of day I wanted, I would probably be a decent bit ahead of them. So at that point I sort of made a move out of that pack and picked up the pace. Between mile 1 and the 5k point I passed tons of people. Which made me second guess myself a bit thinking maybe I was being too aggressive too early, but I felt controlled and knew I'm fit, so just let it roll.

Somewhere around 2 miles I pulled up and started running with Evan Schwartz (2:18 marathoner from Ohio). I wasn't with him long though, as I moved by him (definitely a confidence boost). Through 5k in 15:04 I was still feeling good but knew the headwind at the last mile would be a battle, and it definitely was. I hit the wind and felt myself slow down a bit, but just tried to keep running strong and tried to go with anyone who was passing me (few did) to get a draft. We made the final turn and could see the finish and I just tried to maintain pace and I was able to kick a little the last 50, I don't think anyone passed me in the home straight, but I can't remember if I passed anyone.

The whole race I was looking for Tyler Jermann (2:16 marathoner, went to Iowa State) because he was definitely someone I wanted to try to beat. Never saw him though, until after I finished and saw him finishing about 10 seconds back of me (another solid confidence booster).

Good day overall, I would've liked to have been a little faster, but it was a tough day. Temps in the 30s. Wind chill below 20. 18mph winds. The winning time was even quite a bit slower this year. Looking forward to running this race again in the future.

Achilles felt fine the whole race, a little sore after. Just gonna keep being careful and keep it in one piece til for 3 more weeks.

Now onto Fool's 5k (sub-14:40 maybe if its good weather??) then Boston!
