Trails and Rails. This has been on my bucket list for a few years, and I finally rode up with some friends to do it. We had a blast! According to Whoop, my HRV made me "primed to perform. Your HRV of 91 is 22% better than your recent average. This is a sign your body is ready to take on strain." And I did. It gave this race a 17 Strain Score with today "more strenuous than 98% of all days across Whoop athletes." Felt strong & was picking people off in the second half. Would have been nice to place in my AG but it was very competitive. The guy who won my AG is 55 & he came in 16th overall! I did this cool technique for when you're climbing on and on and you pick a spot to run to and then walk, almost like a fartlek. It allowed me to avoid the dreaded hiking when you want to be running. A guy I passed on the climb while I was doing this said I was a "savage" and after the race, he said he thought that sounded better than "asshole," which is what he was thinking! Finished strong with a 6:42 pace to lots of applause and I couldn't help myself!
