1000 meters of hell: plan was 2mi WU, 5x1k at 4:48(1:54/400m) on 400 jog, 2mi CD. Training is getting into a groove! I think the cooler temps help. Also, Whoop has given me a few "green" days in a row, which is rare. Today it said my HRV is 62 & RHR is down. During the intervals, my lungs felt like when they squeeze the bellows for a coal furnace. Whoop says I was near maximal strain & gave it 17.1 Strain Score. It even said "today was more strenuous than 97% of all days across WHOOP athletes." Obviously I didn't hit the times Coach wanted and they trailed off the further I got into the workout, but this was one of those workouts where I was practicing overcoming the urge to quit! At one point (maybe after 3 intervals), I told myself, "If you quit now, you're setting yourself up for failure in races." Coach says, "the mental gains are key in workouts like this! it is the toughest speed workout of the season, so now we move on to endurance work and you will feel stronger and more marathon focused soon."
