Plan: 5 mi easy, 5x1mi at 9:05-8:45 with 400 jog between, 3mi easy. Group run but I got there early and finished after everyone else, and they were just doing the 7-mile route once! Forgot to push the split button at mile 5, but started increasing the effort and according to Strava, mile 6 took 9:47. According to Whoop, recovery is down with HRV at 17 & RHR up. It gave this run a 20.0 Strain Score. It felt like that! Took Maurten caf gel at mile 4, then regular Maurten gels at miles 7 & 10.At least the easy parts were fun, and it was fun catching up with everyone over coffee afterwards! Lots of self-doubt during the hard parts, esp. when I got to what was supposed to be fast mile #5 and I just couldn't grind it out. "All time goals for the marathon are out the window," I told myself. Then challenged it with, "Trust the training. Hope for race day magic." Coach Neely said, "Great job re-tracking and changing the self talk to be positive! We gotta start somewhere and build, we don't know how long it will take but we dont know what's possible unless we try!"
