All things considered, this was a good day. I was concerned in the prior days about the weather forecast, my left piriformis-aff left quad issues of the past cpl wks, the minor cold/allergies I've been fighting, how.long.its.been.since.I'!!! etc. Well, the weather settled into IRC - around 30* at the start, warming up to low 50's by finish. My choice for running gear turned out well - despite dumping half a bottle of gatorade on my 1st jacket of choice! (I had two with me) ~ bright (electric) pink Nike dry-fit top & matching black w/pink trim capri's, long sleeve cotton T (throw away), olive green & black GoreTex jacket, gray/blue Boulder Marathon HeadSweats tech hat, blk Pearl Izumi Cruise shoes, Icebreaker merino wool socks & a lime green Nathan race vest ('cause the race info stated that aid stations, though plentiful, would only have water & Heed (blech!) Nothing much exciting pre-race happened...although we had several friends/acquaintences running in the different races, other than texting, fb & one phone call, we didn't hook up with anyone either before or for the race. We did see Marshall & Heather at the expo (I'm such a fan!), went to Olive Garden for dinner, sat in the "luke-warm" tub for a bit (met some "interesting" mtn ppl taking a break from Red Feather, & basically turned in early & got some decent sleep. Panicked a moment when I realized I'd knocked over a Gatorade bottle onto my stack of running gear! Miraculously, I only got the jacket wet & had a spare! The ONLY thing I had a spare of! Had a hard time getting much breakfast down. Not nervous, just some mornings my body is not ready for food first thing! Had to hurry & catch the busses going out to race start by 4:30.
