Very happy with today's effort, just over two months after returning from running after wicked shin splints and a long cross country move. No speed work, probably not enough miles, and still at 1:42. Very pleased.

Weather was perfect. Starting temp was probably about 40° with a slight breeze, which we only really felt near the end running through downtown between skyscrapers. Course mostly flat with slight inclines and declines, and after the first half mile or so was able to get my stride just fine. Nice crowds and bands throughout, and the course offered a great tour of Indy.

I was hoping to run around 1:50 (8:24 pace), but as often happens, I was feeling good and just pushed myself. I was able to hold conversations for the first 8 miles, after which the run just felt harder. Felt a slight tweak in my left ankle early on, my feet felt tight in the shoes near the end, I had a shoulder cramp around mile 7 (maybe), and stopped to use the bathroom just before mile 6.

Race was operated fairly well, though I didn't find the website always clear or intuitive. Parking was easy, particularly with the chance to reserve a spot in advance. The chili offered by Steak N Shake was great after the race, as were the little bagel balls and other food. Nice medal, too. Overall a well-done race.

I'd run this race again. It was a good one.
