Notes
Started out slow. at about .75 saw a father and small son, about 5, on their bikes but not riding. Up further I see someone sitting on ground. As I approach the father, he tells me that EMS/Police are on the way to pick the guy up that is sitting on the ground. Soooo I keep running ahead. As I approach the guy sitting on sidewalk, I notice that he is shirtless, shoeless, and looks unstable. I speed up by him, not noticeably to him I don't think. I peek over as I pass him and he is watching me run by with a weird kind of stare on his face. I'm thinking in my head oh crap, should I just turn back? I keep running and notice that there are people out riding bikes, walking, painting, so I keep running. I decide to turn back at 1.5 miles. As I am running back I see the same man. This time he is walking on the path toward my direction and I am running toward his direction. Since I was throwing in fartleks at Nacogdoches bridge, I decideed this would be a good time to fartlek by him. I sped up and hoped that he didn't approach me. He looked even more unstable up walking than he did sitting on the sidewalk. I passed by him. Thank goodness he didn't come toward me. I was ready though. As a female runner I have often thought of what I would do in different threatning situations. The father and his son were keeping their distance from the man. As I passed the father and son, I noticed that the father was on his phone and was talking to dispatcher. When I got to Los Patios, an EMS suburban pulle dup and motioned me over. The female driver asked me if I had seen the patient. I sure did! Asked me how far up the trail he was, what he was doing. She received a phone call from ??? and they were also trying to locate the male patient. Talked to her for a bit then continued on my run. Got to 410 bridge and an ambulance went out from hospital right there. I'm pretty sure it was to get the man. It prob took awhile, as they had to go around 410 and maybe to starcrest? not sure but if they had a mini car they only had to go about .50 or .75 up the trail to get to the guy. I hope all turned out well. Thanks to the father on his bike that was assessing the situation.
