Notes
Weather was a bitch, as have had only a hand full of running days above 55 degrees this spring and not really about 65 - 70 degrees. Today a high of 85 and sunny/humid ... awesome! Race temps 73 - 78 degrees start/finish and it took its toll as not running in any warmth it felt like 90+.
Arrived @ race about 1.5 hrs early and ran 6 miles Pre Race @ planned MP + 30 secs. After run changed socks and shirt, hit restroom and walked the about 1/2 mile to start ... got to start about 5 minutes before start of 10 miler.
Overall ended 10 miler @ 9:04 pace, which is within plan for race but a bit dissapointed not to have better finish (Miles 7 - 9 ) feeling the heat and dyhydration from not enough fluids during (none) or between 6 mile run and 10 mile race.
Original Plan: 4 Easy --- 10 mile race @ 9:00 - 9:05 --- 6 miles Easy after race to get the 20 miles in.
Revised Plan: based on feedback of other runners revised plan to avoid a slow/easy final 6.
6 Easy / 10 mile Race / 2-3 mile cooldown
Actual: 6 Medium (MP & :30) was probably harder than should have run and hit a few hills not on course / 10 mile race @ 9:04 pace -- 1:30:31. / Nada --- Decided against adsditional miles and finish on a decent race and good 16 mile workout. Overall 16 miles in 9:14 pace I will take it.
