First 4 miles a little fast, especially for a trail race, then settled into nice 7 minute pace. Took the lead when leader started walking around 17 miles. Heat started getting to me after that and really struggled to finish. Dumping water on my head at every aid station to try to cool off. Heed should have a little color to it. Dumped it on my head once too by mistake. Temps were high 60s to start and probably high 70s at the finish. Not terrible but after the cold weather we've had I wasn't acclimated. I ended up with a lot slower last 6 on this than the 50k 6 weeks earlier. I guess starting out easy makes a big difference.
