Ran with Jeff, the last 24 miles of his 50 miler. Course was a muddy watery mess. I quit counting water crossings at 12. I don't remember this course having more than 1 or 2 when I ran before. Lots of water running down the trails. It had rained hard about an hour before the race started and was raining at the start at 6:30 am. I watched the start and then went back to bed for a couple hours to stay warm. Got up at 10 am and Jeff was done with the first 26 mi by 11:30 and I joined him on the second loop. Wore my Garmin 310XT GPS. The course is supposed to be 24 miles and GPS measured 23.83. Most accurate reading on this trail I have had with a GPS. Jeff finished in 10:33, taking a half hour off of last year's time. I am planning to run this race again next year, but not sure if I will do the 50 or the marathon.
