Notes

Drove Hugh to the race since he wanted to run home and started my ride from the parking garage. I was planning to take my time and ride for 40 miles and get back in time for lunch. Then realized that I could do 50 and still make it back by 11:30. I decided to ride towards Cooper's Landing so would have the wind behind me on the way back. For the first half of the ride I stopped about every 45 min to stretch the legs and get a drink. I calculated mile marker 154 was where I would turn around. I only saw 1 cyclist on the way out on the Katy. Once I got to 154, I thought looked like a town ahead so went a half mile further to check it out and I found myself in Hartsburg.

It was a relief to turn around and have the wind behind me. I was getting low on water on the way back and stopped a few more times than on the way out to stretch the legs. Saw lots of cyclists on the way back. Looked like a big group of scouts on the trail. The miles seem to pass by quickly. Once back to the MKT I fought against the wind again. Stopped at Scott Blvd to refill my bottle.

I wish I had my splits to post, but for some reason I can't get this ride to upload to my log and don't feel like manually posting 51 splits, but maybe later it will finally upload. I know I stopped at about 3 hrs 46 min which was my moving time. I had about 15 min in breaks. Legs were a bit sore for the first half hour and then felt fine. Back felt great! Main side effect has been excess hunger. I really would like to ride a 100 miles in a day, but am going to have to get some better bike shorts and a few more longer rides before I attempt.
