EHS Run

Notes

Ran with Hugh from his work location in the east campus. We got started an hour later than I had planned and it was extremely humid. I decided I would run with him and this went pretty well for the first 8.7 miles and I felt like I was taking it real easy with 9+ min miles. We had turn around at the MU Rec Trail since water very high and fast over the low-crossing as I figured it would be. We got to go back up the hill and just took the outer road to Reactor Park. It was so humid the inserts in his shoes were sliding making it difficult to go down hills. We departed at the MKT and he ran the rest of his run there and then back to EHS.

I continued on course and sped up a little but not too much. For some reason my feet, knees, ankles, and pretty much my entire legs ached tonight. Energy level felt pretty good but legs did not. I couldn't get my speed up to as fast as I wanted to run. Although maybe 8 min miles probably wasn't realistic in the heat and humidity, I did pick up the pace some.

This was a very hilly course. I was surprised the hill up towards Mizzou Arena didn't feel more difficult since it was near the end of my run. I ended up with 17.5 miles due to the out and back we did on the MU Rec Trail.

I felt okay after the run but was extremely thirsty and couldn't seem to get enough to drink. Here is the course I had planned to take and followed other than the low-crossing area and also ran on the road behind Wal-Mart
