Notes
This run wasn't quite what I had hoped it might be. Started with the Lunatics and ran first 7 with Dan, Sam, Tom, John, Phil, and Darrin. There were several running today. I didn't pay much attention to the pace for the first few miles and felt good. My plan was to pick it up to marathon pace after mile 7. I ran 3 miles close to that pace and then stopped for water after the first loop.
The second loop on this course is more difficult so I knew I probably couldn't keep up the pace, but I was going to try. No one joined me on the entire second loop so ran alone. The uphills really slowed me down and then mile 17 I desperately needed a bathroom. I had to slow down a lot and made it to Memorial Union where I finally found a bathroom I could use on the 2nd floor. Started off again and tried to pick up the pace. I did but didn't get back to marathon pace until the last mile.
This run was only a few seconds slower than last week, but pace varied a lot more. I did not feel as good as last week and I think the course was harder. However, I did not feel like I was putting out too much effort for most of the run. I think I just needed a flatter course with more downhills and less severe uphills to be able to keep a marathon pace for 13 miles. Some rest before the run wouldn't hurt either.
