About me:
One day, for no particular reason, I went out into nature for a run and never looked back. That day was in mid-April 2005. I was 195 pounds on a 5'10" body frame, 29% body fat and had not done any sports whatsoever in over 20 years. To add more insult to this I am a computer programmer who's sitting on his butt for hours at a time.
Why do I run:
Things have changed a little bit since mid-April 2005. Within 2 weeks, on May 1st, 2005, I ran my first 5K. Thirdy days later my first 10K. Only a week later I couldn't resist and tried my first half marathon. I liked it so I did it again 3 weeks later. All this was fun but I wanted more so I ran my first marathon one month later on July 29, 2005. It was fun and I've finished in 4 hours 59 minutes and 58 seconds. In October I ran two more marathons and I wanted MORE. More I did and completed over 150 races including 60 marathons, 29 50Ks, 11 50 miler, 2 100K, 23 100 miler, and one 144 miler. I'm also the RD of the Swiss Alps 100 in Switzerland, co-RD of the Santa Barbara 100 and co-RD/webmaster for the Angeles Crest 100.
Why I started running:
I didn't bother with first running a 50K and did my first 50 miler (JFK 50) in November 19, 2005. I was sadisfied or was I? I don't think so. Only 4 months later I ran my first 100K in France. And about 6 months later, pretty much 1.5 years after starting running, I ran my first 100 miler, the Rio del Lago 100, which I finished in 28 hours and 55 minutes.
