Notes

My plan to start out with was to go up clear creek trail 8 miles and come back down. I knew there would be snow but I was hopeful that the trail was melted some and packed down.

At 2 miles it was clear that was not the case. I turned around, and then did another loop on the roads. The snow really slowed me down. It was difficult to run on cuz it kept making my feet twist and turn and slide every which way. The footing was much harder than the actual hills or anything.

Then I did about 9 miles on the road. Nice to see me popping off sub 10s like that without really thinking about it. Mile 10 had a pretty good hill on it so I am not unhappy with that time at all.

I ran back to the trail, and for my big finish, I did nearly 3 more miles on it again. I was hoping to just stay on the bottom where it was fairly well packed. My left ankle was really not liking it. Any step where the outside of my foot was higher than the inside was painful. That seemed like it was more than 25% of the steps. If nothing else, the trail was kind of u shaped... I had the energy to finish stronger, but I felt like I was very hampered by trying to figure out where to put my feet. (That ankle also did 288 pretty sharp left turns on Thursday. May have contributed.)

My watch said over 1700 feet of elevation, so that's good. I averaged under 12 / mile. That's good. Got the 16 miles done. Groin, back of my left knee, and the ankle were all complaining, probably cuz they were the ones fighting most on the stability of everything.

On to next week!
