Easy jog to the hill. Felt pretty good.
My goal was around 4:30 up and around 5:00 down. The thinking was that I did 3 miles at sub 8 minute pace. So if this was flat, I should be easily under 4 minutes. So an extra 45 seconds or so for the hills, and I should be good.
First one hurt really bad. I knew there was no way I could make it at that pace.
I took the 2nd one a bit slower. It hurt just as bad.
I started the 3rd one, and at a quarter of the way in I just stopped. I was dead. I was thinking I was just going to walk home. I was toast. After about 15 seconds or so of just standing there, I talked myself into jogging the rest of the way up, and then decided from there. I did, and the time was not a terrible as I expected.
I started the 4th pretty slow, just kinda thinking about jogging it up. Felt a bit better at the top so I put just a bit of effort in. I was really encouraged by the time.
The last one I took very similar to the 4th, but decided to really push the top.
If I didn't quit on the 3rd one, I would probably put the effort up more like 7 or 8,.
The jog home was kinda tough. My legs were just dead.
Edit. Came back and changed the effort to 7. Even with the quit, it was a tough thing and I was fairly wiped the rest of the day and even into the next.
