Pauly was a DNS due to illness, so I was on my own for this one. Garmin got paused at some point early in the race, I think about .4 or .5 mile was missing so I had to go by the course clocks. Went out comfortably hard, but was starting to feel pretty warm coming into Natick. After passing Julia, BA and Chris I made a conscious effort to back off the effort. Surprised to see The Kid in the Newton hills, ran with him for a couple miles. New I had a chance at sneaking under three hours if I held steady in the final 5k, worked hard on Boylston and crossed the line with 17 seconds to spare. A warm day, backing off early turned out to be a good call.
