a little excited to pin on a bib after 14 months, so not at all surprised that i overcooked the first half kinda badly. unlike most cases of too fast too soon, this might have been pretty OK today because it got noticeably warmer at mile nine. tough headwind coming back into town, just tried to hold cadence as best i could. virtual fist bumps for every cop and course monitor, and chatted with spectators and lots of runners because i started at the back of the corral and did a lot of passing. think only three runners passed me (and they did so with authority, i made no attempts to go with them)
