Notes

This was one for the ages. Air temp was cold, rain ranged from steady to monsoon downpours, and we were running into a headwind for virtually the entire course. Took forever to get out of Athletes' Village, because numbers were being checked and they were under multiple layers of throwaway gear. Wasn't able to make my usual portajohn stop in the supermarket parking lot on the way to the corrals, which meant I had to make a quick pit stop in the seventh mile. Ran the early miles with Joe Anderson, it was nice to have company. Chatted with a gentleman that thanked me for pulling him to a PR at Bay State, I think his name was Jon Klein. Ran some in the Newton hills with Kalliman Gomes from Stu's, not much chatting at that point but was good to see him. Quads were frozen early in the run, so the down after Heartbreak was even more painful than usual. Backed off a bit and tried to focus on cadence to try to stay steady and not give back any miles too badly through Brookline and Boston. Was really grinding through Kenmore to the left onto Boylston, the finish line never looked better. Feeling good enough to help Mike Narcisi after the finish, he wasn't feeling so good. Very happy with the effort and result.
