Notes

Tough 30 miles in slow sloppy conditions. Not much in the way of hills, but what was there got really difficult to climb as the day warmed up and the snow got soupy. The first lap, nobody was willing to break trail through the snow so I led the first lap (and went off trail once and all the guys following me waited for me to come back after a volunteer turned us around so that I could continue to do the work for them!) The next 2 laps were much easier with all the snow packed down by the field, but then it just got messy. One of the bridges was really slick and even though I slowed way down and was careful when I stepped on it, I slid right off the side. Thankfully managed to stay on my feet though so no damage done and the rest of the time I just walked over the water below on the rocks as being safer.

I don't think I got lapped, I did 8 loops plus an out and back that was 2 miles since I didn't have time to finish another 3.5 before the 6 hour cutoff. Since that means the the fastest person (who was moving at a pretty fast clip given the conditions) couldn't have done more than 3.5 miles than me I'm pretty happy to have made my base goal. Great confidence booster, especially since I thought about calling it at 4 hours. Pretty sure I finished in the top 10, probably fifth to seventhish? Results aren't up yet.

GIven the footing, probably the toughest 30 miles I've done before and definitely the slowest. (I plan to change that at the 100 this Summer, heheh.)

Update: Most of my estimations and guesses were correct...I was the fastest person that ran 30 miles, nobody lapped me, the furthest anybody went was 33.5 miles, and I was top 10, finishing 8th out of 91.
