Notes
This was a tough tough race. Not my worst time but probably my worst feeling. I set out to try to hold an 8:45 pace. That was stupid. I had trained my long runs at a 9:30 pace, but the last two weeks of training went so well that I decided to up my goal. That was stupid. The race was pretty easy until about mile 8 and then I started to tell that I cannot keep this up for 18 more miles. There was a big hill at mile 13 that I ran up but then I fell apart after that. There was a bigger hill at 15 that just took it all out of me. I didn't make it up that one and then just had to walk more and more as the race went on. I had one good mile where I got a runners high at mile 18 where I did another 8:46 but I knew it wouldn't last long. My legs just wouldn't go. They were dead. And then my abs started hurting really bad. I was just in pain. I chalk it up to walking so much before the race and starting too fast. The ironic thing is that Ricky started out a bit slower and I told him to speed up. Then toward the end he was dragging me along. (he did the half and did great 1:56) It just wasn't my day.
