About me:
Married and having recently celebrated the arrival of our 4th grandchild, I'm enjoying work as a Systems and Network Admin specialist at a K-12 School in Adelaide, South Australia, and especially the cleaner environment, sunnier weather and quieter, easier lifestyle of Adelaide, I am originally from Melbourne, Victoria, AUS. A keen tennis player and golfer as a teenager, I trained as a Physical Education teacher in the late 70s. Technology for Education grabbed my interest in the late 80s and when I left teaching to work in IT, my own health, fitness and exercise took a back seat ... until recently. I now cycle for work as much as I can, and enjoy running and swimming when they can fit in. I'm also a frustrated singer-musician who doesn't mind 'cutting loose' on stage at times. Cheers, Peter B. Why do I run:
I'm constantly reminded of the amazing, to me, results I have achieved in the last 3 years. I've lost over 20kg, and feel as fit as I did in my early 20s. Now I can run reps up flights of stairs two at a time, and I even completed the Australasian Masters Cycling Road Race in Nov '07. The enjoyment, escape, meditation, social friendships and personal challenge exercise brings me would be too great a loss to do without now.
Why I started running:
Early in 2005 I was an obese 108kg, and struggled to get up a flight of stairs, so I started cycling regularly to lose weight, by leaving the car at home and pedalling to work as often as possible. I wanted to regain the better than average level of fitness which I had enjoyed more than 15 years earlier.
