Coach told me to tempo for 5K; I asked if I could go 3.5 -- he said if I felt strong. At the 2.75 mile mark, I was starting to struggle, so I made the decision there to stop at 3.25 (overall pace - 6:45).
Splits were 6:48, 6:48, and 6:40 pace for the last 2000m, but it was worse than the splits look. I went out too hard in the first lap, and spent the rest of the time struggling as a result. End result was that I worked harder than I should have.
I need to be patient.
Felt sluggish at the start, and never warmed up. I think I need to pool run the night before -- I always seem to feel best in the morning when I do that.
