Notes

The curse of the 8K continues. The running path was pretty icy, with some snow covered patches throughout the course. Footing was bad for at least half the course, due to either ice on the path-sidewalk or having to run on muddy grass. Oh well ... was fun nonetheless! Makes you feel like a real runner to race on a day like this. And its an excellent speed workout (basically a fast 5m tempo) so it fits nicely with the base phase of my Boston plan.

However, it sucks that I am destined to never run a fast 8K. I love the distance, but it hates me back.

MTA: Its kinda unseemly to complain when the Running Gods deliver a PR. So for the record, I''m actually pretty thrilled to finally go sub-35 at the distance.

MTA: HOLY FUCKING SHIT I GOT HARDWARE! THIRD AG!! HOLY FUCKING SHIT. HARDWARE IN A 1000+ PERSON RACE. HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT.

I honestly never expected to get an age-group award in a Chicago race because the fields are just too large and there are just too many fast dudes. I clearly caught a break in terms of who did (or didn't) toe the line this morning, but 3/53 isn't anything to sneeze at.
