Notes

Didn't expect much from this - whole goal of this thing was to get back in the saddle and get some confidence back. Check. Legs really responded here. But more pumped that I responded mentally. I was into this thing from the start - gun went off and i stuck with the top two who were way faster than me.

Small race but had a couple of runners I knew were going to be tough to hang with (USM track athlete and some dude younger and in better shape). But I lined up with them and resolved to try to stick with them. Hence the first mile was just too fast (paid for it at mile 3). All in all, I felt pretty good the first two. I couldn't hang with the top two, but I totally responded. Once I hit mile 2, I fought this thing hard as it was the hardest mile as well. My cold didn't help either - I was gassed by the time I crossed over the 95 bridge.

Knew I had a chance to meet my first summer goal, so I give it what I had and fought the demons here. Haven't been this excited after a piss-ant race for awhile once I saw my watch was under 19! Still have not seen official time, but it seems as though I broke 19 and smashed my PR. More than I could have expected. I really needed to respond here

and glad I did mentally.

Third over all and first in my age group - but really small, so these don't matter.

Yikes. Sub 19 dude, that matters. I would gladly come in last in a huge field if I could go sub 19.

Awesome man, congrats.

For whatever reason this didn't quite click in my head yesterday. Damn nice work here.
