Notes

Goal here was to try and lengthen my speedwork a bit and try to approach 40:00 (really wanted to break it). This was a great first-year race. Good energy and the course was challenging but fair. The only eye sore really cost me my sub-40. About 1/2 mile in, there was construction that I knew would gum up the works and cause traffic - so I went out way too hard to stay in front of the mess - learned a VALUABLE lesson - 10k's are not 5k's. The first mile of dumbass effort really cost me at miles 4-5. went out comfy and felt pretty good until mile 4 - was also clearly an indicator that I need to do some longer intervals. Then the hills came - just sucked the energy right out of me - especially the one around mile 5. I fought the last 1.2 real hard as I was totally gassed. Great finish and fun race.

Overall, real happy with this effort as I smashed my PR - gave it all I had and fell a bit short - but I'm close. 40 minutes will fall before the season is over. Back to work.
