Hash - So exciting with Boston approaching.  I hope you will have time to write an epic report of the trip, logistics and race itself - I'm hoping to follow in your footsteps next year.

Steve - Yes, pretty exciting for sure. And I'll definitely get a report done - that's the least I owe you guys after being AWOL this year!

Half - Not sure if it's a big trip, but I'm taking my wife and our two young girls (3&6) with me, and we'll be in MA for 10 days. We don't really have any sightseeing plans (neither of us is very big on that), but we'll spend our time relaxing and (hopefully) meeting some interesting people!

Hash - Boston is a pretty cool city, albeit I'm not sure there's a heap of kid stuff to do there.  Some quite interesting historical stuff on the Freedom Trail, and the observatory is quite cool.  I think there is a quite a good aquarium there as well.

Yes, I love the aquarium there. The Boston Museum of Science has a good deal of hands-on stuff that kids tend to like.  New England clam chowder tastes better there than anywhere else I've had it.

How bout the west coast chowder Fred? That’s good stuff too; never shipped up to Boston but the NY/NJ/Connecticut chowder didn’t convince.

I can't speak to what they serve on the west coast.

                      meh,

Salinas/Monterey is just as good, if not better. Bonus points if you're a fan of John Steinbeck.

They also have a marathon. In April. With some hills. Possibly a better medal and/or views. Also, California > East Coast. All day every day.

Many of us aren't sure what the hell point you are trying to make and no matter how we guess, it always seems to be something else. Which usually means a person is doing it on purpose.

I can only speak of my experiences and in my life have spent but a few days in the Golden State.  Also, remember, this is a life-long New Yorker trying to find good things to say about Boston.

Another big week of training in the bag (with another 2x doubles) and the legs were sure letting me know about it by the end of the week.  Oh well, a bit of race week magic will surely fix all of that.

Fred - After no races in almost six months, I’ll have two in two weeks, the Invest in Yourself 5K in Omaha, Nebraska on May 5, and the Chicago Spring Half on May 19.  I’ve done the 5K the previous two years.  Running a 5K two weeks before a half probably isn’t ideal given how much recovery I usually need, but we’ll be in Omaha and Chicago for investment events that DW attends, and I may not get to run a half in the fall.  The Chicago race gets mixed reviews online, but the course is flat and beautiful next to Lake MIchigan.

This was an OK week considering that I was busy with the arrival of the Venezuelan refugee family.  I guess my two off days were like a taper for my harder-than-tempo effort Friday, because the time was my best for this type of workout since 2021.  I assume good temperatures and wearing the Endorphin Speeds that I race in helped too.  The nearly blind dog of a neighbor banged into the outside of my bad left knee on Wednesday, leading to some swelling.  The two off days helped some, but it’s still swollen enough that I cut things short Friday & Saturday.  Luckily, it feels like the sort of thing that usually goes away after a couple of days.
