Cause I CAN

I posted this on my board but wanted to share that I've been thinking about doing another marathon in 2009....actually I started thinking this like a week after the pain went away....yikes!

You're an addict. Most groups see addiction as a bad thing, I welcome this addiction.

All through out the race and 3 days after I just kept saying "I swear to god, I'm never doing this again!!!"

I never said I wouldn't do it again because I said I would never do it in the first place. But I wouldn't talk about it for a while. (My wife thinks I am nuts.) DB

as I head to the start, I say to my wife "Tell me again why I am doing this" and as I cross the finish it is "Never again" but within 3 hours, I am getting splits off my watch and trying to write another runing plan. Yes, welcome to the addiction.

Marathon Peach Congratulations on how far you've come I think the best is yet to come, because you are in LOVE with running. Shocked I had to look up a good definition of love a couple years ago and the best I found was "when you develop a great appreciation for something that brings you joy, self-knowledge, inspiration and leaves you energized. Your need for it causes you to make a committment that you fulfill with self-sacrifice." Peach you've fallen in love with running. Love makes people do crazy things sometimes! Big grin Running you don't gotta like it but you sure gotta LOVE it!

Courage ! Do one brave thing today...then run like hell.

I am right there with you! I ran my first marathon in October (Breakers) and even though I had a few problems (legs cramps) I knew I would be doing for another! I signed up for the NJ Marathon 2 weeks later.

I ran my first last May and started telling myself around the 21 mile mark "never again". I learned two things about myself, 1) I'm stupid. I've already registered for my next one. 2) I have a greater understanding of child birth. Women always say never again right after having one only to turn around and have more. They must all be closet marathoners. Hats off to all you mothers out there.

Buzz - that's funny because while I was walking off a cramp I kept thinking which is worse childbirth or running a marathon ... child birth is FAR worse!!
