leg bruises and pain (Read 2200 times)

Yesterday I ran the Rehoboth Beach Marathon. It was lots of fun, but didn't come without a little bit of pain. Around mile 4 or 5, what I thought might be my Achilles tendon started hurting. By mile 8, I decided to stop and stretch it a little bit. After about 20 seconds of that, it seemd obvious that it wasn't helping. I continued running, and the pain worked itself out six or eight miles later, at least so it wasn't bothering me. It still only hurts if I try to stretch it, but this morning DW said that I had bruises. Sure enough, I do. Check it out.
Looking online, it sounds as if it's a calf strain, and that RICE is the way to take care of it. I just thought I'd ask here to see if there are other theories.
