Anyone run, or know anyone who ran, the Marathon of the Sands in Morocco? This looks insane (and strangely alluring): http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/photos/2009/04/021495.html

Yup. Local guy named Bob Johnson ran it about 8-10 years ago. He trained on the treadmill a carrying 100 pound pack at the nearby club and at the "Crim" (races held in Flint) with his pack. I worked with him on a project about the time he did his big run in 2000.
