Yes good luck to all the racers this weekend. It is a cold one and wet one here but still should make a good weekend. All the training has led up to this, go smash some PRS'!!
I will be running a 20 or 22 mile long run on Sunday. I haven't quite decided if I am doing the 22 yet. It will be my last run in this marathon training cycle above 17.2 miles. I have already run 3 20 milers this cycle so I think it is safe to step up to 22. It will be a long slow plod and I won't be pushing it. We will see how I feel Sunday morning. Until then, have fun out there runners !!

Good luck 2ft, Miele and Pandora - -
I have had a shaky week - -Younger son has had the stomach flu - and today I'm a bit queasy - hopefully it's just in my mind....but I won't know until tomorrow.
Hope everyone stays warm this weekend!
Tara
Ready, go.
good luck everyone racing tomorrow. Some wild weather in the lower states, lots of marathons cancelled from what CNN says. Don't want to brag, but that's our normal weather here from November to March.
Tara-hope your son gets better.
wolf-good luck on your long run Sunday.
me-ran a nice 13.5k (8.5mi) in 1:17 this morning, weather was nice and sunny, but at around 25F. Legs were a little slow and heavy though. Then 2 hours later, off to karate. Our sensei decided that some gradings were in order, and after 3-1/2 hours, we come out with a few more bruises and sore muscles. Happy to say that I got my black bar, meaning that my next grading would be for a black belt. Yikes... at least that's well over 2 years away. Talk about a long-term training plan!!

Just checking in to wish Miele a great race tomorrow!
Checking up on miele's progress this morning.
She slowed down a little there at some point, hopefully that isn't a bad sign, she's still on track to BQ and PR.
Extra cheers going your way miele!

Miele: bummed that I didn't have the foresight to ask you for a bib number, unlike Npaden. Hope it went well
5K race this morning. Cold (30 F) but no rain, snow or wind (5mph), so pretty good conditions. Finish time 22:16, which is 7:10 pace. But there is no way I can run 7:10 for 3+ miles, and indeed, Garmin showed 2.92m instead of 3.12m. I really don't understand how a course can be out by so much, especially when it is a fairly simple out and back. First "mile" was 0.96m, and the second was 0.91....:-(
Taking the Garmin to be correct, that's a 7:40 pace, which is better than my previous of 7:48, and below the 7:43 required for a sub-24. So I have decided to take 23:49 as my new PR for 5K.
The course itself had a relatively steep hill (about 150ft ascension) for a 5K course that was described as "fast and flat". Also, splits (pace. not time) were 7:39, 8:00 and 7:22. On a flat course and with an exta 350 yards or so at the end, I believe the race pace would have been below 7:40.
So just need to hit sub-50 in my 10K next week, and the trilogy will be complete, I can rest for a week before getting back to some LSR and endurance
Personal bests (bold = this year): 5K - 23:27 / 5M - 38:42 / 10K - 49:31 (track) / 10M - 1:24:26 / HM - 1:51:17 / M - 3:58:58
Next races: NYC Marathon, Nov 2014
Looks like she must hanging with the 3:55 pace group.
Be intereating to see how she ends up finishing!
Go miele!

Congrata miele!!!! Not quite the full 5 minute PR you were hoping for, but a solid PR and a BQ!!!
Can't wait to hear the details!
Woohoo! Congrats, miele!
Thanks, npaden, for posting the info.
Wow, Miele's sounds like it went really well. I'm soooo impressed.
As I posted in much more detail at the Half-Marathon User group, I did a Santa themed 5K in Manchester, NH yesterday. The best part of the race was the great holiday energy. We were all issued felt Santa suits -- complete with pants, white trimmed top, black belt, hat, and fake beard. People who chose not to wear the suit were dressed as elves and reindeer. There were Christmas songs blasting from speakers at the start. The whole vibe was energizing and FUN.
The course was totally flat. My goal was to run the race at an 8:30 pace. I struggled with being able to tell whether I was running the correct pace because my Map my Run app seemed to fluctuate wildly. I was also confused because the race was billed as a 3 mile run, when it was actually a 5k. For nerdy people like me who like to calculate pace and know exactly where I am in a race, that .1 makes a huge difference! Anyway, I exceeded my goal. RESULT: 25:40 - 8:16 pace per mile - Over all result - 374/2442 - F40-49 result 32/419. I was very pleased, and looking forward to racing this distance again next month.
Can't wait to hear about Miele's race when she has a chance to write in!

YAY MIELE, THAT IS AWESOME!!
I would type more but my fingers still have not regained full dexterity... I volunteered at a race this morning, and it was COLD!! (It was bearable later when I went running, but just standing around? Yeah, that sucked. Badly.)

because i never shut up ... i blog
miele - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You are amazing - I'm so proud of you. Can't wait to hear all about it.
Pandora and 2ft - Congrats on your 5k's. I know how much they hurt - well done!
Tara - ???
Two foot shuffle, congratulations on a great 5k!!! I overlooked your report the first time around.
Was the course certified? I think the course certification is more accurate as to distance than the garmin. Unless you think their clock was messed up? I think you had a great day and ran a lot faster than you think you did!

Hi Guys! Thanks for all the good vibes sent my way! It really helped in the final 10k. And I needed all the help I could get at that point. Will write an RR tomorrow. Right now I'm sipping some champagne. Seems I heard that was the best recovery drink. Or was that chocolate milk? I get those two mixed up.
2ft- Congrats on a very nice 5-ish K! New PR!! I never understand how courses can be so far off or mis-measured but it appears to happen regularly. I do the same thing and just figure out what I would've run had the course been accurate. Looking good for the sub-50 10k next week.
Pandora- Great new PR for you, too!! Excellent! But did you actually run the race in a Santa suit?
Tara- I hope your son is OK and you didn't catch whatever bug he has. Hope your race was a good one if you were able to run it.
More personals tomorrow but I have to say that the sub-2 HM runners are on a roll in terms of PRs. Hope that doesn't jinx anything.
