Forums >General Running>What are your 2013 Goals?! (Did you achieve 2012's Goals?)
Well, let's see.
Run 4500+ miles in 2012 - fail (I ran 4080)
Meet or beat a 3:18 marathon - fail (the fastest I ran in 2012 was 3:30-something)
Finish my one and only 100 miler - fail (I DNFed at M60)
On the plus side, I finished Boston and hit 333 marathons+ultras. I also PRed at 50 miles substantially... but that wasn't a goal coming into the year. I did it 6 days after running Lava Boston just kind of on a lark.
Not my finest year.
I have no goals for 2013 aside from running when I can, fighting crime, and doing good. Righting wrongs and whatnot.

One person's "fail" is another person's dream goal... I hope someday to achieve 50% of this level of fail for a year. 2000 miles in one year would be epic for me. Maybe once I'm retired (10 years to go) I'll have time to try for it. Nice work, SRL, even if you didn't quite make your goals!
Retired & Loving It
Run a sub 2 hr. in the half this spring and hope to get a sub 4 hr. in the full this fall.
2012 Goals:
Run first marathon - Check!
PR in half marathon - Check (twice)!
2012 was an exciting year for me in terms of running accomplishements but left me injured and pessimistic about 2013.
I'm just starting back from a big layoff/mileage reduction over the last three months. My PF/heel stress reaction are about 95% resolved.
2013 Goals:
Address/resolve PF and heel issues
Run a sub 2:00 Half marathon
2013 -Sub 2:00 for 1/2 marathon
hairshirt knitter
2012:
sub-20 5k - done.
sub-3:30 marathon - done.
halfway decent 70.3 triathlon - done, 5:06
sub-1:30 half marathon - fail, 1:31:37
2013:
sub-11 ironman, or a good go at it at least!
sub-5 70.3
sub-3:25 marathon as a BQ
and unfinished half marathon business, if I have the speed
2012
Main goal: break 6:00/mile 5k :18:19 check!
Improve my 10k: 40:54 check!
Run my first half marathon (check... but not fast)
Start a regular running routine (where I am not taking weeks off): check!
Run 20 miles every single week the entire year (even the crazy busy weeks)
Run 180 miles some month (not random, but get up to that mileage)
Run 1500 miles this year (big jump for me)
Break 18 in the 5k (goal of goals is to break 17)
Break 39 in the 10k
Break 1:30 in the half (hardest for me as the one I am sure to run has massive hills)
Run sub 7 minute miles the whole way through the NE relay
Good to get this in writing, I foresee some changes in 2014 to take me away from running so getting ahead now is important!
I've got a fever...
My 2012 goal was Awesomeness, which I failed to achieve by a mile (or was it 1600m?).
I'm setting the bar a little lower in '13 to make the goal attainable yet still challenging: Mediocrity
On your deathbed, you won't wish that you'd spent more time at the office. But you will wish that you'd spent more time running. Because if you had, you wouldn't be on your deathbed.
I had two goals for 2012.
1) Run as many BQs as I could during the year. I managed 5.
2) Run a sub-3:35 marathon. I managed 2 (3:34 and 3:32), for BQ-21 and BQ-22.
Goals for 2013 are:
1) More marathons, more BQs. Something like 4 would be nice.
2) Run Boston well (no PR in mind, though)
3) A sub-3:30 in the fall (maybe even a 3:25 depending on where I'm at at that moment).
No mileage goal in mind. Just running uninjured is good enough for me.
PRs: Boston Marathon, 3:27, April 15th 2013
Cornwall Half-Marathon, 1:35, April 27th 2013
18 marathons, 18 BQs since 2010

LOL!
2012 Goals - HM PR of 1:55 and get pregnant. Came close with a 1:56:21 PR and I'm 5 months pregnant! That being said my goals for 2013 have change significantly. I hope to continue running 5k distance throughout my pregnancy or at least as long as I still find it enjoyable and to run my first post baby HM in October with focus on going the distance not speed.
Peace out!
PRs:
5k - 22:39 12/11 10k - 49:10 11/11

Run my first HM only goal is to finish without walking, although I'd like to see 2:30. I know that's a snail pace to some but since I am a novice runner I'm good with that.
- Do what I can do. {DONE}
- Finish and enjoy a full Ironman {DONE}
- Do what I can do (if I realize I can't do what I set out to do, I'll set out to do what I can do)
- Finish and enjoy another full Ironman (and beat my 2012 time)
- Get old slower than my buddies
Life Goals:
#1: Do what I can do
#2: Enjoy life
