Is my heart rate normal? (Read 958 times)

I'm about ready to throw out my own HRM to protest the stupidity of this much discussion being applied to this particular case.
Then this thread has been a success!

I don't put a lot of stock in those things either...my high school coach put one on me one day at practice and during a 7 mile run when I was pushing the pace only a little my pulse went up way over 200 - like 206, 207. The thing started beeping and being annoying so I had to take it off. It did catch the resting heart rate within a couple beats. I would think if my pulse was actually 207 I would have had cardiac arrest during any race when I was going all out. Then again, my treadmill tells me I only go no higher than 80 beats per minute no matter how fast I go Big grin

Here's an idea. When your heart rate shoots up, stop and take your pulse for 15 seconds. That will prove its the hrm. The idea that your heart-rate jumps to near max at the beginning of a run is ridiculous.
