Who all is here and what are you doing? (Read 16874 times)

Thanks... I thought that would be good for a few laughs. Looking around at beginners and beginning training programs, I'm wondering if I'm running too much to begin with. What do y'all think? I haven't had any pain other than what I consider typical aches and pains. Breathing is fine. I was in pretty good shape to begin with (playing basketball regularly).
Welcome to RA Bald Jim! And Julianne R! And chocolatrice! And meghan! And Rynamite! (I'm a little bit behind on the greetings, sorry) Big grin

Welcome! You may want to share your running log so people can see what you've been doing. As far as beginner running programs, a lot of folks around here came back to running with the Couch to 5k program.

When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?

Welcome! This is a great place to learn and share Smile

As long as you are feeling fine, it looks like you may be beyond the Couch to 5K program. You may want to look into the program called "The One Hour Runner".

Thanks Bonkin. Looks great! I have a "killer" instinct, so I should remember there's no hurry.

                Just me...

Welcome Julianne and Latrice! Latrice, I see you are from Bedford. I just did the C25K program earlier this year. Another thing I found very helpful was to join a local running club. There you can find people at your ability level to run with and most clubs offer free or very inexpensive races to their members several times a year. You may want to look into the Grapevine Runners and Walkers club. There are some great people in that club.
Thank you so much for that info. I was looking into the Dallas Running Club, but I thought it was the only one in the area. I appreciate it!

You're welcome. The Dallas Running Club is a good deal for the free races - $20 for a year membership gets you 8 free races plus discounts on several others. I'm a member of DRC. Fort Worth also has a running club - but I don't know any details on them.

hmm 8 free races.... Here's information on the Fort Worth Running Club http://www.fwrunners.org/. A lot of the running stores have weekly runs. I know the Runner in Arlington has 2 runs a week (fluids provided) and the Luke's locker off of University in FT Worth has people meeting up over there for at least one run a week.

HI everyone! I'm a renewed runner ... just got back into running after not running for almost 7 years. I ran in high school and a little recreationally in college. I will be running my first half marathon this Saturday and I'm very excited and nervous! The running bug has bitten HARD and I'm so ready for the adventures ahead Smile I'm really glad I found this board, everyone here seems to really know their stuff!
