I have recently tried running without tunes. Basically started when I thought the race was going to have better sound than it did, and another time my phone got wet and ruined, and multiple times where I just forgot to grab the Yurbuds (or where they were).
I got quite a charge out of running with music. Some music would really kick my butt into action. Its been about 3 weeks, and Im also enjoying focusing on nature, my breathing, the sound of my footfalls and a little less technology to worry about.
One race I had my comedy mix in with my running music. Started LAUGHING in the middle of a race. (I dont know how to FFW songs while running) so I could only turn down the volume and run in the quiet for about 8 minutes. (out of a 1/4 Marathon).
I wish all well with their music.

I actually don't have very many particular songs that stand out for me for running. I'm a bit of an EDM (electronic dance music) junkie and generally just listen to mixes from DJs I like. It's incredible how a mix can progress and how much it can affect me when running and will profoundly affect my run (I know I'm not alone in this). If I'm having difficulty in a run I'll try to picture myself at a rave and imagine that I'm dancing rather than running. It works well for me
A couple standalone tracks that I've known to really keep me going are:
Infected Mushroom - Frog Machine

Justice - We Are Your Friends (DJ Isaac Remix)
https://soundcloud.com/dj_isaac/isaac-we-are-your-friends-2012
Mixes are what I listen to for the most part though:
Also, for those who don't know, EDM mixes are essentially what DJs do live. They mix multiple songs together on the fly seamlessly literally without missing a beat.

If the beat and lyrics are right, I can run to it.
Edited to add: Sometimes I don't know if I'm running or dancing.

Good policy.
