Mental Strength (Read 960 times)

Menace to Sobriety

I bet Chuck Norris could run through the pain.
Chuck Norris doesn't feel pain, he makes you feel it.

Janie, today I quit my job. And then I told my boss to go f*** himself, and then I blackmailed him for almost sixty thousand dollars. Pass the asparagus.

I don't think Chuck Norris is a runner, but clearly he would bowflex through the pain.

There's a fine line between using mental strength to your advantage and allowing it to hurt your performance. Many people can push themselves far beyond their physical limits, but end up collapsing before the finish line, throwing up, injuring themselves, or just hitting the wall. I think the key to using mental strength wisely is to allow your mind to push yourself to (but not over) the limit, while also listening to your body in the process. The biggest obstacle is to overcome that "I should give up" voice. This is very different from the "something is wrong" feeling from your body. Listen carefully to the feeling, push past the voice.

        Are we there yet?
