Notes

Good race with lots and lots of hills. More hills than Dex - A2. Very good morning for this distance. Cloudy with breaks but cooler. Not as humid. Course started downtown on roads that lead to dirt packed roads. Most of the course was this type of surface. Long out and back lollipop style with little fan support. Course open to traffic so had to be alert. Great volunteers and 4 good aid stations. Another completely appreciated no frills, inexpensive race. Gorey details -

1:48:10. No HR data. 1st AG.

Mile 1 7:57 (Um, short)

Mile 2 9:07 (There's the makeup)

Mile 3 7:53 (BIG downhill stretch)

Mile 4 8:12 (That's more like it)

Mile 5 8:17

Mile 6 8:03 (More down than up)

Mile 7 8:14

Miles 8 & 9 16:20 (Aid station - didn't see marker)

Mile 10 8:16 (Remember at this point feeling very comfortable and relaxed with the terrain change)

Miles 11 & 12 16:32 (Aid station - didn't see marker)

Mile 13 8:20

Mile .1 00:56

Goal was to take the first 3 miles easy then hit stride. Course map didn't detail the elevation change accurately plus the early mismarked miles kind of affected my plan. However, I was pleased with the time and keeping it together mentally, which is key for me now. Many fast women on the course who were only getting faster towards the end; very encouraging to me. Definitely worth doing next year. Last mile was very challenging - uphill and crossing over I96. Heat from the traffic below was not pleasant. Sweet 200 meter or so shady downhill finish.
