Notes

Today's long run was run in shorts! Temperature started in the mid 30's and ended at about 50 degrees. Ran in race day attire (except short sleeve t instead of singlet), compression shorts, arm sleeves, head sleeve, gloves. I felt a bit tired from the beginning, perhaps a product of moving lots of hurdles at yesterday's city indoor meet.

My knee gave me no trouble at all. My hamstring was definitely better than last week, but not great. I am aware of pain anytime my pace dips below about 6:40/mile. The rehab is working, now must continue working at it.

I struggled over the final 3.5 miles. Some of the fatigue due to fitness and probably some due to the warmer temperature and lack of adequate hydration. The city drinking fountains are not yet turned on. Therefore my only water came at St. Mary's at the 6 and 18 mile marks. I took gu with each water stop and another without water at the 12 mile mark. Upon finishing I had a large collection of salt residue on my face.

This was another step in the right direction. Boston is just three weeks away. I hope to get in a few more quality weeks that may include an evening midweek tempo run - weather and hamstring dependent.
