The race went fine. Not great, but definitely acceptable. I forgot my watch and ran by feel. This worked alright and I felt like I was able to keep my pace in an appropriate range. The weather on the day was about 60 degrees. Normally I would say this was far to warm, but today it rained throughout the entire race and that left me feeling good and not overheated. Of course the rain also slowed things down a bit and made for a marathon in wet shoes and socks.

At mile 11 my quadriceps were already getting sore. This was new territory to feel the soreness this early. I'm not sure the cause, but perhaps because I was sick the 10 days before the race. The result was that I just did not feel comfortable the second half of the race and never felt like I could really push the pace.

10k - 38:28 6:11/mile.This was faster than my goal of 6:15, but without a watch it was acceptable.

Half - 1:22:53 6:19/mile. I slowed to about 6:25/mile for the second 10k - slower than I wanted.

20 mile - 2:08:11 6:24/mile. This was 6:28/mile for miles 13-20.

Marathon - 2:50:51 6:31/mile. This was 6:51/mile. I think this big slow down came in the final 3 miles in particular.
