Notes

This was the 22nd edition of an annual fun run hosted by the local running club. The origin of the name 'Not the Honolulu' goes back to when a local legend was traveling to Honolulu to run the marathon there. The locals who stayed in Fredericton decided to create this event to acknowledge event there, and it has become an annual tradition. It is a very informal event - participants can run any distance they choose, up to a marathon. I ran - but didn't race - the half. There are no official times, although there were timing clocks on the course. Most participants didn't race, but decided to take in a nice run with decent weather, overcast hovering just above freezing. I went to a local watering hole with the club afterwards for breakfast, which was nice too.

The course was a loop about a mile long. While it might sound monotonous to run several loops of the same course, it was actually a lot of fun, and you got to run with several different people through the day (85 total participants, six signed up for the full).

Leo McCosham from PEI ran the full in 2:52, bu he looked quite comfortable doing it - at least he did every time he lapped me on the course! He ran and won a small marathon in Cape Breton in the fall in 2:43.

I have an easy run planned for tomorrow, and then week one of my 23 week marathon plan for Sugarloaf begins! That's right ... a 23 week plan... but it's not too taxing in the first few weeks.
